Abby and Brandon’s modern wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club was on a beautiful sunny day in August. We worked with Abby and Brandon from the beginning of their planning journey, and even though we toured many venues, the Forestview Room at Whistle Bear was *the* perfect spot for them!

Abby wanted a modern, minimal vibe with lots of texture and black accents that felt effortless, sophisticated and fun! Brandon wanted an open bar, a packed dance floor, and a custom cocktail called “The Jimmy”. More on that later!

We dreamt up a colour palette of dreamy neutrals and began to assemble our dream team of vendors! Since the colour scheme was heavy on neutrals, adding lots of texture was an important element in the event design. Enter Billie Flower Co., the queen of dreamy and modern floral arrangements. Since the Forestview Room is so grand, we wanted to bring focus to the dance floor (and secondary bar) with large-scale hanging floral clouds. When planning a wedding at Whistle Bear, you will likely host your ceremony in the on-site chapel. We wanted to ensure that the florals we used in the ceremony space could be gorgeous and easily transported back into reception. Of course, Billie Flower Co. was happy to indulge us and created two beautiful free-standing floral elements that could be easily moved between the spaces!

Perhaps my favourite design element, though, was swapping out Whistle Bear’s chiavari chairs with Black Thonet chairs from AllCargos! Upgrading your chairs has a massive impact on the space, and it is always worth the investment. These black chairs made the space feel modern and elevated in all the right ways! Plus, they are very comfy to sit on.

This was such a beautiful day to play a part in, and I’m so thrilled that we had the opportunity to work alongside Abby, Brandon and their most beloved humans! For those of you who are still dying to know what The Jimmy is, I’ll tell you! It’s 1 oz vodka, 2 oz whiskey, orange juice and ginger ale.
